Time Line View for EGC

Time Line View for EGC is an additional view for Exchange Group Calendar Graph. It shows your existing team schedules as a clear timeline. Employees or resources are shown on the left, time runs across the top, and appointments appear as colored bars.

This is useful for reception, planning, internal support, service desks or an in/out board on a shared screen. Time Line View has been extended with fast search, and the first customers now use Time Line View for many of their team views instead of Outlook.

What Time Line View offers

  • a clear horizontal time view for working hours or the full day
  • flexible filters: an engineering schedule for you, an in/out board for somebody else. Same data.
  • employees or resources on the vertical axis
  • fast filtering by one or more categories and by appointment status, such as Busy or Free
  • fast text search across subject, body, user and other fields
  • faster and easier switching between teams, with the last used selection remembered
  • Outlook states such as Busy, Free, Out of Office and Working elsewhere
  • EGC category colors

  • No client software. Just an internal URL.

Consistent category colors

EGC has its own category management, which helps everyone in Outlook see the same categories with the same colors. Time Line View can therefore show appointments in those consistent category colors. The availability color remains visible as a narrow bar on the left side of the appointment, so you can see both the meaning of the appointment and the availability status (busy/free/etc.).

Installation

  1. Download the ZIP file.
  2. Extract the ZIP file.
  3. Copy the files to the existing EGC installation folder, next to ExchangeGroupCalendar.Graph.exe, gcadmin.exe and config.ini.
  4. Start TimeLineView.Console.exe.
  5. Click Install service.
  6. Accept the Windows administrator/UAC prompt.
  7. Click Start.
  8. The console shows the URL, for example http://SERVERNAME:8765/.
  9. Share this URL with reception or the users who need to see the timeline.

No separate web server, database installation or new Microsoft 365 registration is required.

If Windows Firewall asks for permission, allow access on the local network.
